During Thursday sessions, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged APEC members to enhance win-win cooperation and boost world economic growth. Xi said reform and innovation is needed to find new growth momentum.
The Chinese president also said members should promote connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region and speed up the construction of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific. He noted that China's Belt and Road initiative is being steadily implemented, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will be constructed.
He told meeting participants that China is confident that its economy will achieve sustainable and healthy growth, and bring more opportunities to the region. Leaders from other economies have agreed to advance the construction of FTAAP according to the roadmap issued last year in Beijing. They say they will continue to create an open environment for trade and investment, enhance multilateral trade mechanisms, and say no to protectionism in any form.
