“As of today, January 6, 2016, at 10 a.m., the DPRK’s first hydrogen bomb test was successfully conducted,” said KRT news reader.
According to the statement, DPRK leader Kim Jong Un ordered the H-bomb test on December 15, 2015, and signed the final written order Sunday.
The DPRK claims the test was conducted “in a safe and perfect manner” and that no adverse impact was caused to the environment.
It added that its development of nuclear weapons is aimed at smashing America’s hostile policy against it, and stressed that the DPRK would not resort to nuclear weapons unless its sovereignty was infringed upon.
Kim Jong Un claimed on December 10 that the DPRK had developed a Hydrogen bomb, as he toured the Phyongchon Revolutionary Site, which commemorates the feats of his father Kim Jong Il, who died in 2011, and his grandfather, the state founder and eternal president, Kim Il Sung.
The DPRK performed nuclear tests in 2006, 2009, and 2013.
